  1. •             Beatriz Rodríguez began her career as a journalist in 1986 at CADENA SER Radio, in Tenerife. In 1996 she moved from radio to television and since that moment she has worked as a news reader, a reporter, a news room manager but, above all, has become well known  for her documentaries.

  2. •              In 2007 she directed the documentary “Sueños de Papel” (“Paper Dreams”), where she depicted, through the dreams they have before leaving their countries and the harsh reality they find when they reach the outer Doors of Europe, the lives of African immigrants arriving on the Canary Islands’ shores in makeshift boats known as “cayucos”. That same year DOCUSUR Festival selected her script “Prisioneras del Destino” (Prisoners of Destiny”) to participate in the pitching of that edition. The TV stations present gave it a warm welcome. In 2008 the project “At the Next Station” centered around the lives of four girls who meet at an orphanage in India, is selected by Canarias Cultura en Red as the best audiovisual Project for televisión.

  3. •       A traveller and a writer, Beatriz Rodríguez has always chosen to make documentaries on human and social topics, and among her works we can mention “Tras las Huellas de un Santo” (“Following a Saint’s Footprints”), where she examines the work of Brother Pedro, the first Canary Saint, with the poor in Guatemala; “Misión de Paz en tiempos de Guerra” (“A Peace Mission in Times of War”), about the situation in what used to be called Yugoslavia, or “Sahara Occidental, años de espera” (“Western Sahara, years of waiting”), about the Saharan refugees who wait, in the Argelian desert of Tinduf, for the celebration of the promised referendum on self-determination.

  4. •          For the Canary Islands TV news service she got an exclusive interview  with Hugo Chávez, president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, for the programme “Venezuela, an unexpected tragedy”, as well as showing the most personal side of musicians such as Juanes, Rosario Flores, Willy Chirino, Bebo Valdés or Pedro Guerra in her work “Detrás del Espectáculo” (”Behind the Show”), shot during the lastest editions of the “Son Latinos” Macro-Festival.

  5. •         She is currently working in her next project “Buscando un collar de estrellas” and "The tukuy defeated the storm" whose screenplay was rewarded by LEAC (Writing Lab Audiovisual from Canarias) in the DOC International Festival “MIRADAS DOC”. Alongside these two work focused on Venezuela, she is also pre-producing the documentary "Breaking the Silence" to be shot in different places of Kashmir and in the audiovisual and photographic project "5.5", work which will travel around diferents countries of the planet.           

  6. •             "At the next station" has been the first spanish long film cataloged by the Ministry of Culture with the grade of "Specially recommended to promote Gender Equality." Selected by Film Festival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 2011. Selected by International Documentary Festival MIRADAS DOC 2011. Selected for Solidarity Festival Los Realejos 2011. Selected by the Spanish Embassy in Ukraine "Meeting on Gender Equality" held in Kiev. Recognition of the Association for the development of women "Mercedes Machado".

  1. •            Beatriz Rodríguez, comienza su carrera como periodista en 1986 en la Cadena SER, en Tenerife. Tras su paso por la SER, trabaja en ONDA CERO y  RADIO VOZ. En 1996 cambia la radio por la televisión. Primero como redactora y presentadora en CANAL 7 y después en ANTENA 3. Desde 1999 permanece en la plantilla de los Servicios Informativos de  RADIO TELEVISIÓN CANARIA (RTVC). Ha sido presentadora de telenoticias, reportera, jefa de redacción, pero ha destacado sobre todo por su trabajo como documentalista. 

  2. •                  En 2007, dirige “Sueños de papel”, documental en el que retrata la realidad de los africanos que llegan a las costas canarias en cayuco, a través de lo que sueñan antes de salir de Africa y lo que encuentran al llegar a las puertas de Europa. Ese mismo año, el Festival DOCUSUR, selecciona su guión de “Prisioneras del destino”, para participar en el pitching de esa edición, con gran acogida por parte de las cadenas de televisión presentes. En 2008 el guión de su proyecto “En la próxima estación” centrado en la realidad de cuatro chicas que se conocen en un orfanato de la India, es seleccionado como mejor proyecto audiovisual para televisión, por Canarias Cultura en Red.

  3. •            Esta viajera y guionista se ha centrado fundamentalmente en el documental de carácter social y humano, y en su filmografía destacan  trabajos como “Misión de paz, en tiempos de guerra”, que aborda la realidad de la antigua Yugoslavia tras el final del conflicto, “Sahara Occidental, años de espera”, centrado en la vida de los refugiados saharauis que viven en el desierto de Tinduf,  “Tras la huellas de un santo”, donde analiza el trabajo de los seguidores del hermano Pedro, primer santo canario, con los más desfavorecidos en Guatemala, o “Santa Cruz en Carnaval, la transformación de una ciudad” emitido en Canal Viajar, donde revela los principales secretos de esta fiesta.

  4. •           Para los Servicios Informativos de Televisión Canaria consiguió entrevistar en exclusiva al presidente de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, en el especial informativo “Venezuela, una tragedia inesperada” o mostrar la parte más humana de artistas como Juanes, Rosario Flores, Willy Chirino, Pedro Guerra o Bebo Valdés en ”Detrás del espectáculo”, reportajes grabados en las últimas ediciones del macro-concierto “Son Latinos”.

  5. •               En la actualidad trabaja en el proyecto “Buscando un collar de estrellas” que se está rodando en Venezuela y en la producción de “El tukuy derrotó a la tormenta” cuyo guión ha sido premiado por el LEAC (Laboratorio de Escritura Audiovisual de Canarias) en el Festival Internacional de Cine Documental MIRADAS DOC. Además de estos dos trabajos centrados en Venezuela, también está pre-produciendo el documental “Rompiendo el silencio” que se rodará en diversos lugares de Cachemira y en el proyecto audiovisual y fotográfico “5,5” con el que recorrerá el planeta.

  6. •           “En la próxima estación”  ha sido el primer largo español catalogado por el Ministerio de Cultura con la calificación de “Especialmente recomendable por fomentar la Igualdad de Género”. Seleccionado Festival de Cine de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 2011.  Seleccionado en el Festival Internacional MIRADAS DOC 2011.  Seleccionado Festival Por la Solidaridad, Los Realejos 2011. Seleccionado por la Embajada Española en Ucrania para “Jornadas sobre Igualdad de Género” celebradas en Kiev 2012. Reconocimiento de la Asociación para el desarrollo integral de las mujeres “Mercedes Machado” 2012.
